Overview and Benefits
TCOIA members enjoy unparalleled access to a a cross-industry forum through which they engage with and gain insight from experts and leaders across multiple sectors and industries. Members have in-person and virtual access to executives, leaders, government officials, and prominent scholars in academia, business, and policy, many of whom are members, themselves. TCOIA is dedicated to facilitating an intellectual exchange of ideas, networking, and facilitation of career progress through mentoring programs, expert panel discussions, symposia, town halls, live-streams, and executive leader forums exclusively for members. Through access to TCOIA’s knowledge base, think tank, publications, briefing materials, and special content on TCOIA.org and the Member-only site, members benefit from an expansive collection of unparalleled resources, opportunities, and intellectual capital.
Term Membership Program
The Council on Interdisciplinary Advancement seeks promise, quality, balance, and diversity in its membership. Criteria for Term membership include professional expertise and intellectual achievement. The degree of interest, professional accomplishment and potential, and current involvement in interdisciplinary cooperation as well as the promise of future achievements in the service interdisciplinary advancement and standing among professional peers are all instrumental in consideration of Term Members.
Eligibility Requirements
Term Member applicants must be a minimum of twenty-seven (27) years of age and no older than thirty-two (32) years of age at the time of applying. All Term Member applicants must be either citizens of the United States (native-born or naturalized), or permanent residents who maintain current legal United States-based employment and legal permanent residency within the jurisdiction of the United States of America.
Term Membership will have a maximum tenure of five (5) years. Should a Term Member reach an age within the permissible threshold of eligibility for Lifetime Membership, the Term Member may apply for a Lifetime Membership, so long as the Term Member is in good standing with the Organization. Any Term Member who has been successfully elected as/inducted into Lifetime Membership may have their Lifetime Membership dues pro-rated for any term overlap between their Term Membership and their Lifetime Membership.
To be inducted as a Term Member of the Organization, to ensure high standards of membership, Term Member applicants must be nominated by at least five (5) individuals, comprised of at least two (2) individuals who are current Life Members (who may or may not be Members of The Executive Board) of the Organization, and three (3) additional individuals comprised of any existing current Members, Lifetime or Term (who may or may not be on The Executive Board) of the Organization and/or external non-Members of the candidates' choosing. The final submitted application for Term Membership will be reviewed by The Executive Board Membership Committee and will require approval by way of unanimous approval of The Executive Board and a written statement of approval from the Executive Chairman. A single application processing and background check fee of $50.00 per candidate will apply to all candidates for each time an application is submitted.
Term Member Candidates should currently hold a position as any of (but not limited to, as determined by the Executive Board) the following:
Business owner of a United States-registered Limited Liability Organization (LLC), S-Organization (S-Corp), C-Organization (C-Corp), and/or a registered non-profit organization.
Manager-level or Mid-level executive (director, VP, SVP, EVP) at a United States-registered LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, and/or registered non-profit organization.
A medical physician at or beyond their first year of residency or in fellowship, or beyond
An academic graduate student, doctoral candidate, or post-doctoral fellow, adjunct or assistant professor, professor, or administrator at an accredited United States academic institution
A paralegal, junior law partner (with American Bar Association Bar exam certification and certification to practice law in at least one US State), for at least 3 consecutive calendar years.
Nominations
For all applicants, nominating letters should not exceed five hundred (500) words in length and should address the following criteria:
Professional expertise and intellectual attainment
Degree of professional experience, level of interest, contributions to the candidate’s respective field, and current involvement with interdisciplinary endeavors
Candidate’s promise of achievement in their current sector, industry and other sectors/industries
Potential contributions to the work of TCOIA
Desire and ability to participate in TCOIA activities
Reputation and standing among their professional peers
No active Member, Lifetime Member or Term Member, of the Organization may provide a nomination for any applicant for Lifetime Membership or Term Membership if they are a relative, spouse, or in-law relative of the candidate.
