Dr. John Horn is a master strategist who combines the analytical rigor of an economist with the creative empathy of a theatrical director. As a Professor of Practice in Economics at Washington University in St. Louis - Olin Business School, Dr. Horn specializes in helping organizations navigate high-stakes competitive landscapes through the application of game theory and behavioral economics. His unique approach moves beyond dry calculations to explore the "rationality" behind seemingly irrational market moves, using immersive simulations to help leaders anticipate competitor actions and market shifts.

Before joining the faculty at WashU, Dr. Horn spent nine years at McKinsey & Company as a Senior Expert, where he advised global clients on corporate strategy and competitive dynamics. His professional philosophy is rooted in the belief that strategy is a series of moves and counter-moves; a "game" that requires both data-driven foresight and a deep understanding of human mindset. By leveraging his background as an actor and director with the Rorschach Theatre, he designs simulations that "come alive," allowing participants to live through the choices of their competitors to better embed strategic knowledge.

In addition to his academic and consulting work, Dr. Horn is the CEO and Founder of Gateway Competitive Insights, LLC, and has served as an advisor and mentor for Stadia Ventures, a global sports and esports innovation hub. He holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University and a BA from the University of Michigan. Whether he is teaching the next generation of business leaders or guiding C-suite executives through complex market entries, Dr. Horn remains dedicated to the intersection of storytelling and analytics, ensuring that strategy is as realistic as it is robust.
